Our Indian classical music program features Raga Jinjhoti played on the 22-string mohan veena, asian drum, and tanpura. This Khamaj raga expresses the sweetness of young love. The courtship between the two young lovers is filled with an intoxicating, overflowing desire to give everything to each other—flowers, affection, sweets, play, and love. Through its nonlinear patterns, the music cuddles and coaxes the listener towards union with the Divine. Several short Indian folk songs complete the early evening offering.
